ABOUT Chris Doran
Known to many of the young
players in the community as “Coach Chris,” the
IU grad has spent nearly 25 years in Bloomington
promoting, coaching and broadcasting soccer.
He started the rec league “Kicks
For Kids” for Monroe County Youth Soccer
and grew the program to 320 registrants before
handing-it-off to the Cutters organization.
For 10 years Chris designed and
facilitated the youth instructional programming
at the SportsPlex. And in 2009, he formed Bloomington Soccer LLC.
Doran completed his US Soccer "A" certification and has coached at club, high
school and ODP levels for nearly 20 years. He has begun a second-stint at Bloomington
High School North, this time coaching the girl's program. He coached the boy's team from 2005-2008, before resigning as the school’s all-time
winningest soccer coach with 3 sectional championships,
3 regional championships and two appearances
in the state tournament’s “Elite
8.”
As
a coach and personal soccer trainer, Chris has helped
players achieve numerous goals, including all-conference
and all-state awards, State Cup Championships
and collegiate scholarships. Chris worked as
a TV analyst for Major League Soccer’s Chicago
FIRE and is a soccer broadcaster for The
Big Ten Network.

Chris catches-up with MLS Goalkeeper of the Year (2009) Zach Thornton while shopping at the PUMA Store in Santa Monica (Zach was picking-up a new bicycle - it glows in the dark!).
